Since March 8th, 2024, SANE Standard has become a Signatory of the SLCP Charter. What is SLCP, and what does it mean to be a signatory?
SLCP stands for the Social & Labor Convergence Program, a non-profit multi-stakeholder initiative aiming to eliminate audit fatigue in the global supply chain.
SLCP provides tools and a system of comparable data on working conditions to be used by industry stakeholders. Their work is crucial due to the proliferation of social standards and audits on production sites, resulting in increased costs, time involvement, and administrative fatigue for suppliers. SLCP offers a Converged Assessment Framework where manufacturers can share SLCP-verified data with as many stakeholders or clients as they wish.
It is important to note that SLCP does not score or judge the data or determine if a facility passes or fails; it simply provides high-quality verified data that stakeholders can use according to their needs.
SANE fully aligns with SLCP’s vision and goals. Because audit fatigue and multiple audits represent a real burden for manufacturers, SANE doesn’t push for additional audits if it is not necessary and recognizes credible existing standards when their requirements are equivalent.
Additionally, as a signatory of the SLCP Charter, SANE accepts SLCP assessments for its own compliance assessment process. SANE commits to using SLCP tools and encourages business partners to do the same. SANE is also pleased to contribute to the development and improvement of SLCP.
